Her fifth book Fire - A World of Flavour published in October 2008 (Lantern/Penguin) focuses on her culinary adventures as a curious traveller over the past three decades, a rich evocative collection of travel stories and recipes. With an insatiable appetite for travel, Christine has traversed the globe in search of inspiration – from Tokyo to Istanbul and from Mexico to Marrakech. She shares her favourite places and memorable dishes tasted along the way, she leaves no stone unturned in her quest for new tastes and adventure.
Christine Manfield Desserts, the soft cover version of
Paramount Desserts (1997) was released in April 2004 offering a seductive insight into the delicious world of desserts - to instant success. One of the Top Ten non-fiction bestsellers in that year, short-listed for the 1998 Australian Book Design Awards and nominated for the 1998 Julia Child ICAP Awards in USA.
Stir is an easy-to-use manual of recipes conceived to accompany Christine’s range of spice pastes. It is designed as a home cooks’ companion to facilitate the use of simple minimum effort cooking methods for maximum flavour. With photos by Ashley Barber, Stir was runner up for excellence of food photography at the prestigious 2002 James Beard Awards in New York.
Christine’s third book SPICE (Viking/Penguin, 1999) is a personal odyssey, a working bible, a discovery of the sensual world of spices and their central role in the culinary arena. It earned her the title, Mistress of Spice! SPICE won the Silver Award for Best Hardcover International Recipe Book at the 1999 Tasting Australia World Food Media Awards. It also won the Best Design for a Hardcover Cookbook at the 2000 Australian Book Design Awards.
SPICE is now available in the new look, soft cover edition, published in February 2005.
Christine’s first book Paramount Cooking (Viking/Penguin, 1995) documents the development of ideas, processes and methodology that was Paramount Restaurant. The book became an international bestseller with several editions since its original release. It was nominated and short-listed for the 1996 Australian Book Design Awards and for the acclaimed international 1996 Julia Child Awards. Since 2005 it has been published in soft cover as Christine Manfield Originals.
During her career Christine has also had material published in several cooking anthologies and her work features in Australian, American, European and British culinary magazines. She has written food columns for newspapers and magazines and is currently feature travel writer for WISH, the monthly colour magazine of The Australian newspaper.
